How it works

Light, heat and the hair follicle

A diode laser sends light into the skin, where it's absorbed by pigment in the hair. This heats the follicle and reduces its ability to regrow hair.

Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions are usually needed, and some people need occasional maintenance. We'll talk about what's realistic for you — we never promise permanent removal.

Suitability depends on your skin, your hair and the equipment, which is why we start with a patch test.

Questions

Laser FAQs

Does it hurt?
Most people describe a warm, snapping sensation. Comfort varies between people and areas, and we'll check in with you throughout.
Is it suitable for me?
Suitability depends on your skin, your hair and your health. We assess this at your patch test and will tell you honestly if laser isn't right for you.
Does it work on all hair colours?
Laser relies on pigment in the hair, so very light, grey, white or red hair may respond less well. We'll discuss this at your patch test.
How should I prepare?
We'll give you preparation guidance when you book your patch test. Please follow the instructions in your confirmation.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Hair grows in cycles, so several sessions are usually needed. We'll recommend a schedule based on your assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all plan.
Will I need maintenance?
Some people find occasional maintenance sessions helpful. Results vary from person to person.
